A Brief Look at the Band…

          During a teacher’s workshop offered by the International Bluegrass Music Association in the Fall of 2000, a high school bluegrass band from West Virginia did a presentation/performance.  Immediately the idea of starting a similar band in our school took form.  This has brought us full circle on this 7 year “road trip” and we have thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.
We have had the privilege of performing for various venues along the way; National Assoc. of Gifted Children Conference, Wave3 TV, Pine Mt. Settlement School, Baker-Hunt, Riverbarge Excursions Line,  KSBA Convention 2008, Kentucky Senate during the 2008 General Assembly, community events and many festivals.           Our band members are:

          Our after-school program is also considered a club and new, younger members of the club attend bluegrass camps, take private lessons and “learn the ropes” of band technique.  They eventually gain skills and confidence in their musicianship and advance to the “band” level.
