Week of April 23- May 1

Lucille by Arnold Lobel  Activity:  Write about what lesson Lucille learned in the story and draw a picture to go with your picture.

My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother by Patricia Polacco  Activity:  Does this character remind you of someone you know?  Write a few sentences about them comparing and contrasting them to the older brother.

Scaredy Mouse by Alan MacDonald  Activity:  Draw a picture and write a sentence for something you are afraid of.

When A Dragon Moves In  by Jodi Moore  Activity:  Create you own castle.  You may want to build it or draw it!  Share your work with the teacher!  

Snappsy the Alligator (Did Not Ask to Be in This Book)  By Julie Falatko  Actvity:  Who is telling the story and how do you know?  This is called the"Point of View".

Activity One:  Have your parent/guardian give you some coins.  Name the coins and then practice counting the money.
Activity two:  Play the card game Garbage 

Activity three:  Find the missing part

Activity four:  Use the following shapes to create something:  3 circles, 2 squares, and   1 rectangle 
Activity 5:  Find and measure 3 items in your house in inches.  Share them with your teacher! 

The Day the Crayon Quit  by Drew Daywalt Activity:  Choose a color.  Then draw and color all the things that are that color.  Take time to label the items in your picture.

Catching The Moon by Crystal Hubbard  Activity:  Think about a sport that you enjoy playing.  Tell me about a time when you played it and who you played with,

Here Comes the Garbage Barge  by Jonah Winter Activity:  Write 2 sentences that tell why no one wanted the garbage.  Think about why you wouldn’t want to take the garbage either.

All the World by Liz Garton Scanlon  Activity:  Draw a picture of yourself then write some things that make you special under your picture.

Littlest Bunny in Kentucky  by Lily Jacobs  Activity:  Use a Kentucky map to find all the places mentioned in the book.  Look up some of the famous places mentioned in the book on the internet and read about them.

A Good Pie Party by Liz Garton Scanlon  Activity idea:  Draw a picture of your favorite kind of pie.  Write about why its your favorite.  Or make a pie with your parent or grandparent.

My Baby Blue Jays by  John Berendt    Activity:  Look at something in nature and how it changes over time.  Draw pictures or write to show how it changed.

The Hula-Hoopin' Queen Read by Oprah Winfrey  Activity:  Go outside and Hula Hoop or another activity and challenge a friend (via social media) or a sibling.  Have fun today and tell us all about it!
